Ian Connor – President & CEO. Ian attended Ohio State University where he double majored in Exercise Science and Psychology. He was a member of their cross country, indoor & outdoor track teams where he earned all-american honors. Since graduating from college, Ian has enjoyed an exciting career as a professional athlete and private coach. He qualified for the Olympic trials and had the honor of representing our great country on several world teams.
Matt Reece – General Manager & COO. Matt started running in middle school. He later ran track and cross-country for Osbourn Park High School year around. Matt is still very much in love with everything running, whether it be high mileage weeks or the latest shoes.
Mary Davison – Apparel Buyer & TRS Adult Professional Coaching Director. Mary has been a competitive athlete all her life. She began competing in gymnastics as a child and retired from the sport after graduating from Virginia Tech. The dedication and determination she learned as a child through gymnastics quickly drove her to success as a competitive distance runner. Mary is a top regional runner with personal best times of 18:15 for the 5k, 29:45 for the 8k, 37:38 for the 10k, 1:03:01 for 10 miles, 1:24:42 for the 1/2 Marathon and 3:01:36 for the marathon.
Mary is a certified Health and Fitness Specialist/Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and a certified Running Coach through the Road Runners Club of America. Since 2001, Mary has worked with runners of all levels from beginners to Boston Marathon qualifiers. Mary is currently the Director of The Running Store’s Professional Training Programs and The Running Store’s Apparel Buyer.
Alisa Harvey. Alisa is a Northern Virginia native. Since her high school days at Thomas Jefferson she has dedicated her life to athletics. She graduated with a BA in Speech Communications from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) where she was the 1986 NCAA Champion in the 1500M. In 2006, she was inducted into the Lady Volunteer Hall of Fame.
Alisa was the 800 meter and 1500 meter champion at the 2007 U.S. Masters Outdoor T&F Championships, where she was also named USA Track & Field 2007 Masters Athlete of the Year. She is the World Record Holder of the indoor Masters mile (4:47.26) and holds the following U.S. Masters records: 2:07.57 for 800 meters, 4:46.29 for the mile outdoors, 2:05.75 for 800 meters, and 4:26.18 for 1500 meters indoors. In addition to the track, Alisa enjoys racing on the roads in any distance from a 5K to the marathon. She is a four-time winner of the Army Ten-Miler and posted a personal best of 2:49.26 at the 1999 Richmond Marathon. In addition to working part-time at The Running Store, she also writes “On The Track” articles for The Washington Running Report and is a competitive Elite Masters runner.
Pam Stewart. Pam runs just enough to balance out her love for junk food. She is an avid hiker and cyclist, and has recently taken up spin to enhance her workouts.
Liz Truschel. Liz fell in love with the sport of cross country after watching her oldest son’s first race. Eight years later and with two more sons participating in the sport, she is still a great fan. She has volunteered at and sponsored many racing events at Brentsville High School. She was team mom for six years (perhaps a record). After working for Prince William County Schools for ten years, she decided to do something that involves her love of running, walking, and just living a healthy and active lifestyle.
Tyler Giller. Tyler first started running in 2007 as a freshman at Brentsville High School. He ran cross country in the fall and the 400, 500 and 800 during winter and spring track. He kept up running after high school, racing anything from the mile to half marathons. Tyler now attends George Mason University working towards a degree in Kinesiology and will be commissioning into the US Army in the Spring of 2015 through the ROTC.
Lisa McArthur. When Lisa isn’t at The Running Store you can find her on a track somewhere as she has three daughters who are all runners. Lisa also is a photographer for high school track & field, cross country for MileStat, and a national photographer for MileSplit.
Michael Kurcina. Mike has been a running enthusiast for over 35 years and has a passion for helping others with their fitness goals. He loves doing all of his sports in the outdoors (hiking, Mt. biking, trail running, rucking, ultra running, as well as shooting and tactics) because there are no boundaries.
Myra Kinder. Myra first started running with her mother in 7th grade. While not being a real big fan of the sport for the first year, she fell in love with it after her first few weeks of high school cross country. She ran cross country, indoor and outdoor track at Brentsville High School. Myra is currently studying at the University of Mary Washington where she is in the German program and the Education program.
Ethan Barner. Ethan grew up in Hampton, Georgia, where he played football and did shot put and disk in track in High School. Ethan likes to spend his free time playing ultimate frisbee and doing anything outdoors – camping, fishing, hunting and shooting any gun he can get his hands on. Ehtan hopes one day to be a firefighter and serve the United States in either the Army or the Marines.
Andrew Mcbrearty. Andrew grew up in Chicago where he played baseball and golf in High School. He likes to spend time with his dog Tibby, but its questionable whether or not Tibby likes to run with Andrew. His race of choice is the Firecracker 5k – Andrew’s, not Tibby’s.
Izzy. Izzy’s family has been located in the Northern Virginia area for over a decade, afer having moved around quite a bit with the Navy. She grew up playing soccer and continued in high school until she was convinced that cross-country would help keep her in shape. She ran for Brentsville District High School for three years. Two of those years, she competed with the BDHS women’s team at the state course. She also competed in the Super-Y national soccer championship tournament, taking second place in the country. Currently, she exercises for fun and health, trains for half-marathons and hopes to one day finish the Honolulu Marathon.
Kyle Hoffman. Kyle was born in Fairfax and raised in Manassas. He ran cross country and track for Osbourn Park High School, graduating in 2012. Kyle currently studies business and will be attending VCU in the future. When running, Kyle prefers mid-distance races, and 800-1500m speed drills. When eating, Kyle prefers pizza and hot sauce. However, Kyle wouldn’t recommend the pizza/hot sauce combination while running speed drills.
Ryan Miller. Ryan grew up in Gainesville, Va and ran cross country and track at Battlefield High School. He is currently attending Georgia Tech, studying Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and stills finds time to be on Georgia Tech’s cross country and track teams! When he’s not running, he likes to fish – preferring deep sea fishing over fresh water fishing. Ryan hopes to one day either work for an oil company like Exxon Mobil or British Petroleum or work with the United States Military with research and development in the field of chemical engineering.
Diana Cerda. Diana was born in Fairfax, VA and is currently studying International Studies at Virginia Tech. She is a hiker and loves exploring Virginia and all the trails it has to offer. Being an outdoor enthusiast, she also enjoys fishing and rock climbing. She has a pet chihuahua named Kendall that loves going on little adventures with her. Honey stinger chews and waffles are her favorite thing to eat and take along on big trips.
