Youth Track Club Information

Experience the fun of our running clubs!

March 2008 saw the beginning of our two new running clubs - one for adults and one for youth. The adult running club provides opportunities for adults to get together with other runners in the area, meet new running partners, and get a change of pace on their regular running routine. The youth running club is a USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned track club to allow kids from as young as 5 to begin to discover the joy and sport of track and field.

Adult Running Club
If you're looking for a group that views running not only as something good for your health, but also something good for your life, then you've found the right place. Ian (the manager of The Running Store) heads up The Running Store's Adult Running Club (TRSARC) and, as a group, we welcome runners and walkers from all ages and backgrounds. Your current level of fitness doesn't matter... all that matters is that you're interested in working towards positive changes and having a lot of fun in the process.

As a member of The Running Club you'll receive not only the support and camaraderie of our members, but also special coaching opportunities, training sessions and a nice discount at The Running store! We meet on Saturdays for "long runs" and leave from The Henry Hill Visitor Center (Manassas Battlefield) at 7:30am. During the warmer/brighter months we also meet on Wednesday evenings for speedwork. There are no distance or speed requirements for either workout; you do what you're capable of. If you're interested in going further or faster, just let Ian know and he'll see what he can do to get you there.

Youth Track Club
We want kids to experience and come to understand the sport of track and field. With so many options for soccer, football, baseball, etc., we want to provide a similar option for kids to become involved with the sport of running. Our focus for the first year is as a recreational youth sports program that will have three seasons:

  • Spring - Track & Field
  • Summer - Track & Field
  • Fall - Cross Country/Road Racing
Our goal is to grow a travel component to the club fo competitive runners to compete in regional and national competitions.
