In-Store Video Gait Analysis

On February 20th, Dr. Kevin Maggs D.C.with Active Spine & Sport in Gainesville will be available at the Running Store for individualized video full body gait analysis. There is no charge for this event. There will be individual 20 minute appointments with Dr. Maggs where he will video tape you running from various angles and then slow the video down on a computer which will allow subtle (or not so subtle) flaws in your gait to be seen. You will have an opportunity to discuss past and present injuries with him and he can demonstrate appropriate corrective exercises to correct the flaws in your gait. Running injuries have identifiable causes and gait analysis is an important factor is finding out why something is hurting.

Dr. Maggs' educational background is in kinesiology, chiropractic and he is an Active Release Techniques (ART) provider. Dr. Maggs is an avid runner and a large portion of his practice is devoted to runners and triathletes. He has been selected to treat the professional triathletes at all REV3 triathlons, the qualifying elite runners of the Armed Forces at the Marine Corps Marathon and also the professional triathletes at the ITU World Championships.

Trail Running 101

Are you tired of being on the road, watching those cars pass you by, inhaling exhaust fumes, and wondering when your run will be over? Can you picture yourself in a more serene environment with vast silence, wildlife abound, while ripping down a long hill with the smell of fresh wildflowers in the air? If this sounds appealing to you or you’re just looking for a change, then come check out the new Trail Running 101 program being offered this March at The Running Store!

Trail Running 101 will begin on Wednesday, March 10th at 7:00 PM at The Running Store with an informational meeting that night. From there, runners will meet at various trail heads in Northern VA on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 PM. The program lasts 6 weeks and is $100 ($75 for TRS Run Club Members).

Youth Spring Track Program

Our Youth Spring Track program begins on Tuesday, April 6th. The program is open to all kids grades K-8, regardless of their natural talents and abilities, with the opportunity to develop and pursue a life-long love of sports. The Spring season will run from April 6th - May 20th. Practices and meets will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 PM at Gainesville Middle School.
